Ongoing research and results

The first article based on data from the NorthPop study was published in 2021. Since then, results from several sub-studies have been published and around thirty sub-projects are ongoing. In addition, data from NorthPop has been used in around 50 student works (as of November 2023). There is a wide range of research that is ongoing, including the effects of heavy metals or dietary supplements during pregnancy on the child's health or whether the children's activity varies between weekdays and weekends. We investigate which environmental factors affect the risk of contracting allergies. In other sub-studies, the mother's and children's food preferences, eating disorders and physical activities are looked at. We want to find out which factors affect children's development; from the time in the mother's womb and later in life. We also have the unique opportunity to compare the families' lifestyles before, during and after the covid-19 pandemic, and whether changed lifestyles can be linked to the future health of the child.
